Make your own Terrarium!

I friggin love making random things and one of my recent projects was to make a Terrarium.
It's really easy and it's great to have green in the house during winter!

Things to gather

  • A big clear jar like a fish bowl/aquarium, You can get the one I got at walmart in the kitchen stuff.
  • Charcoal. You can just get the fish charcoal from petsmart/petco/walmart in the FISH supplies.
  • Potting Soil
  • Sand or pebbles
  • Several Small houseplants , Miniature tropical plants work best because its a moist enviroment.
  • Accessories - Some ladies like to make theirs into a faerie terrarium.  I put some sticks in mine.
  • If your terrarium's big enough and has water and what not you can put frogs or snakes.
  • You can also have a desert themed terrarium. If it's large enough you can put lizards.
                                                      My Terrarium!

Wash your jar very good.
Then line the bottom of your jar with sand or pebbles about 1/2-1 inches deep.
Sprinkle a lot of crushed charcoal over the sand/pebbles.
Add moist potting soil how ever much you need for your plants.
Plant the plants in the terrarium.
Water carefully so that plants get a good drink, but will not be sitting in water.
You will know when to water again by touching the soil.
If it's dry, water it.
If it feels damp, do not. If you cover the terrarium, it will not require frequent watering.
